Made for China is a piece that proposes a reflection on the text “Made in China” usually written on many industrial products which could be interpreted as a synonym of consumerism.
The piece highlights the looming reality of devastation of our natural resources in favour of mass production and consumption.
The materiales chosen for the piece “Made for China” such as the red ink, rice paper, stencil typography and a stamp allude directly to chinese culture. The typography chosen for the matrix was selected as a direct link to the stencil typography used to label shipping boxes and freight containers.
The one million ‘Limited Edition’ prints are manually stamped on rice paper using as a wood log as a matrix, documenting the passage of time on its rings as it ages.
Each print is numbered, dated and signed.
